About Us

In the late '60s, H.L. and Billie Staples wanted a different life for themselves and their three sons. They were the majority partner in a large hog operation at that time. Wanting complete operational control, they purchased a 120-acre farm in the southwest corner of Lincoln County, Oklahoma. In one way or another, our family has called this farm home since 1971.

The Staples operated a dairy with sons Brian and David from 1976 until 1987. From 1988 until 2009, the farm was a commercial vegetable operation, Staples Redbud Vegetable Farm/. H.L. and Billie operated the farm with their son David. In later years, grandchildren Andi and Jon would work at the farm during their summers. H.L. and Billie were 76 when they retired in 2009, and Billie was still picking in the field on their last day. They retired with the hopes that one day one of their children or grandchildren would continue to farm on the land their poured so much of their love into.

That dream came true in 2014 when their oldest son, Leo, and his wife, Julie, purchased the farm. In the fall of 2019. Leo decided to take another path and started applying regenerative agriculture practices. Ironically, his parents managed the farm using many of these practices. They knew that soil health was everything. Growing cover crops to be put back into the soil, composting, and applying animal manure and diverse plant life were part of their recipe for soil health.

Currently Staples Farm produces high-quality polyculture hay and premium pasture-raised pork. The pasture-pork operation is expanding, and next year, it will offer registered Berkshire breeding stock along with finished pork. Controlling the entire lifecycle process allows Staples Farm to ensure the quality of our products and assures customers that our livestock are ethically raised. The farm is in the process of becoming a certified animal welfare-approved operation.

Our multi-generational farming team includes H.L. and Billie's grandchildren and their spouses and even their great-grandchildren as partners in the farm-to-consumer operation. We share their passion for farming and are committed to being good stewards of the land. We believe in hard work, valuing our animals and raising them with respect for their contributions to our life, and creating a better environment for future generations.
